Dilema
Last night I had two people from the alliance on other guilds contact everyone in the alliance about wanting to leave thier guild for one of our guilds.
As the guild in the top spot, but every guild on equal level, a rule was made a while back that we would not recruit from the other guilds in the alliance. My question is what would you recommend to that person if they wanted to leave the guild but still be in the same alliance? Even though we are not recruiting them it is a concern of mine just because someone does not like thier guild they want to leave. Just would like to get some feedback on what the community would do in this case... thanks guys/gals |

If your rule is no recruiting and these guys are wanting to join you without anyone putting them up to it then it doesn't seem like the rule was broken. That might not be the most important factor though.
I guess it depends on how you guys operate as an alliance. Are you doing everything as one big extended guild where when someone needs a mission they shout in the Alliance Chat and people from various guilds come together for the team? Or do you mostly keep to yourselves when forming teams? It just seems like the reason they left the old guild may still be there if you are teaming up with people from that guild. For example, if "Bob" (names have been changed to protect the innocent) from their old guild really upset them and Bob is still grouping with them then the problem hasn't gone away and may become your problem now as the new guys may spread their discontent with Bob. Perhaps you need to understand the reasons for the change. If you don't see a problem with the reasoning then it may be fine. If you don't see a problem with the reason but still have reservations about it for "alliance political" reasons then perhaps you need to evaluate your rule to see if it needs to be revised to something along the lines of "no members will be moved to other allied guilds unless an entire guild merger takes place". It could be something as simple as the guild they are in is too focused on PvP and yours is PvE and so a better fit for them and so there is really no problem. Sorry, it is hard to be any more specific without knowing the whole story. |

Then I would look into modifying your rule to include some steps to take if this happens in the future. Hope that helps. |

I'm curious, what end up happening? Did you admit them to your guild or no?

Well the guy talked to his guild leader and said he wanted to leave. I also talked with his guild leader. I told them both I really dont want to bring another member from one of an allied guild to ours.
The other guild leader said it was ok for him to join, well when he talked to our recruiters he stated that he wanted an officer position. In my guild officer positions are earn and decided by my officers not me. Since they see a lot more than I do because of the times I am on. Back to the point, my officer then stated that we do not promote officers right away and it is rather earned. The guy then began to say that I told him he would be an officer. Which no where in my conversation did I tell him this. He started pming, saying he was an officer in his guild and that it would be a lateral move. He began getting irate with my recruiting officer and my rectruiting officer stated that "I will not recruit him". I stood behind his decision and told the other guild leader. The other guild leader stated that it was ok and I dont know what happened but I guess he started getting irate with that guild leader. I later found out that he was removed by the guild leader. So I have recommended that no more switching guilds in the alliance to prove this point unless you are like XoO where you have all of the same guild under one roof. Toffin |

Sounds to me though that this was a case where the person thought the grass was greener and wanted to have it all without really earning it. That said, when people change guilds in XoO (or of they have accounts in different guilds) in general they are afforded the same status (so an officer in one is usually an officer in another). But we tend to function more like one large guild rather than an alliance of 10. |

However if they are in my guild officers earn the positions by thier peers. They watch how they react to certain situations, if we did have more than one guild it would be the same, but since each guild is ran by a different guild leader and the guild leaders run the alliance like the knights of the round table. No head of the alliance we all are at the same level and give each other the same respect.
